Exfoliation Treatments/Chemical Peel
At Tay River Reflections, we offer advanced chemical peels using alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) with beta hydroxy acids (BHA). These peels stimulate cell growth such that the skin thickens. The aged/dead cells that are exfoliated are replaced by newer, more youthful cells. There is increased production of new collagen beneath the epidermis, although the exact scientific reason why exfoliation triggers this is still undefined.
AHA/BHA peels can rejuvenate the skin and can gradually improve:
Rough, dull looking skin Fine wrinkling associated with sun damage Uneven pigmentation Mild acne, blackheads and prominent pores.
The peels are performed in a series, beginning with the weakest concentration of AHA (15% glycolic acid), and then gradually increasing to the strongest concentration (70% glycolic acid). A series of 4 to 6 applications is recommended spaced 1 to 2 weeks apart. This can then be followed by maintenance peels every 1 to 2 months. The effect is enhanced and maintained by the regular use of AHA/BHA and retinol containing face creams.
