Tripollar RF Skin Tightening System:

Tripollar is a novel radiofrequency (RF) skin tightening and fat shrinking system approved by Health Canada.

The Tripollar system induces focused heating of the dermal layer of the skin which stimulates collagen tightening and new collagen production by fibroblast skin cells. Additionally, the fat layer is heated and natural fat metabolism is increased, leading to reduction in the size of fat cells.

The treatment is quite pleasant and creates a warm sensation over the skin surface. Glycerine is used as a conducting medium and to reduce friction.

Complications are very rare and expected to be temporary. These include local pain, skin redness, swelling, and rarely; crusting, blistering or superficial burning of the skin. Usually there is no “downtime” and the skin looks radiant after treatment.

Conditions that would be of concern or relative contraindication if considering tripollar treatments would include pregnancy, pacemaker or implantable defibrillator, severe cardiac disease, metal implants in the treatment area, any wounds or active skin condition in the treatment area such as skin cancer, infection, rashes or breakouts; history of keloid scarring or abnormal wound healing, history of recurrent herpes in the area to be treated.

Best results are seen with multiple treatments which produce an additive effect. Typically 6 to 8 treatments would be performed, each 1 to 2 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments can then be considered every 3 months or so.
